Roni’s Rants #4: Split-Screen Laughing Videos

It’s not that funny…
I meaaaan, it is kind of funny — but your stupid split-screen laughing face does not make it funnier.

You know exactly what I’m talking about.

You’re scrolling Facebook or TikTok, you find a reel that actually looks interesting — maybe even genuinely entertaining — and then BAM. Half the screen is hijacked by someone’s face, looped endlessly, laughing hysterically like they just heard the greatest joke in human history.

What even is that?

First of all, yes, the original content is probably funny. But it’s not THAT funny. And half the time, the laughing doesn’t even line up with the good parts. It’s just the same exaggerated reaction on repeat… forever.

Why?
Just… why?

Am I missing something here? Is this some new joke format that I clearly skipped over? Some hidden layer of comedy I’m not cool enough to understand?

Because honestly? It takes away from the original video. It’s distracting. The faces are usually ridiculous (or just plain ugly), and it adds absolutely nothing. It doesn’t make the video funnier. It doesn’t make me laugh more. It just makes me annoyed.

Ugh. I don’t get it.

And I really don’t have anything more to rant about — unless someone can explain a useful purpose for these videos. If you can, please… enlighten me.
