WOW. I know, I know… I’ve been slacking in the rant department.
It’s been, what—five or six posts since I complained about something??
…say WHAAAAAT?? 😄
Have I gone soft??
LOL—nahhhh. Relax. I can’t rant all the time or y’all are gonna start thinking I’m some miserable little gremlin, and I’m really not.
HOWEVER.
For entertainment purposes, I am back today with a fresh serving of sass and attitude. You’re welcome. 💁♀️
And maybe—maybe—I’m a little cranky because I currently have a crick in my neck… from looking at all these SIDEWAYS 👏 PHOTOS.
Y’all know exactly what I’m talking about.
You’re scrolling through Flickr, Primfeed, or Second Life pics, just minding your business… and suddenly—BAM.
A whole lineup of images turned sideways like we’re all supposed to collectively tilt our heads like confused puppies.
Now, I’ve heard the arguments.
“They’re uploaded that way because the resolution is too high…”
Or some variation of techy blah blah that photographers nod at seriously.
Listen. I am not a professional photographer. Maybe that makes perfect sense in your elite, pixel-perfect circles.
But for us simple peasants just trying to look at a cute picture?
As long as it’s not an 8-bit potato, we’re good.
Honestly, I would much rather look at a slightly lower resolution image that is, you know… RIGHT SIDE UP
than risk throwing out my neck trying to admire your “superior resolution.”
(And yes, I absolutely said that in my most obnoxious, snooty, nasal voice. 😂

Wanna know why I don’t care about that slightly better resolution?
There. I said it. |
And let’s be real for a second—half the time it’s just a model shot.
Zoomed in. Posed. Turned sideways like it’s going to unlock some hidden level of beauty.
What is it doing??
Hiding acne? Making her slimmer? Changing her tax bracket??
It’s a photo of a virtual avatar, people. Let’s not act like we’re restoring Renaissance art here.
And here’s the real kicker—
I actually love looking at people’s photos in Second Life. The landscapes, the cozy scenes, the creativity… even the modeling when it’s done well.
But if it’s sideways?
I scroll.
Immediately.
And I know I’m not the only one.
So that “better resolution” you’re so committed to?
Yeah… it’s being completely wasted on a whole lot of us who aren’t even stopping to look.
At the end of the day, I appreciate a beautiful photo…
but I appreciate my neck joints a whole lot more. 💅
